Southern Italy Vacation with Enotria Travel

Southern Italy Vacation"About 15 years ago I left Calabria to never return. Calabria was too small, the mentality too old fashioned and there was no work. The thought to live my life there in a small village was too much for me. My only wish was to find a job somewhere in the world. After my travels through Europe I ended up in the Netherlands.  I knew it for sure, I would build my live here and I would never return to Southern Italy. The first time I returned in Calabria I noticed and enjoyed the big difference between the two cultures. I noticed how much I missed the flavours of the cuisine. I enjoyed sitting outside in the sun, wishing that one of the older women of the village would sit beside me to tell all the stories of the village. For the first time I saw the colours of Calabria, the clear blue sky, the deep blue sea, the large variety of flowers. I realized the wonderfull smells that came out of my mothers kitchen. Because of my absence I learned to see my Calabria through different eyes. I had to go away to appreciate all things Calabria has to offer. I am proud again to be a Calabrian.

By starting Enotria Travel I have found the ideal mix between my two "homelands". Since 1999 a lot has changed, at the moment our company consists of a core team of 7 persons divided over two locations. During the season our team grows to about 18 people.  Our head office and call center is in Holland  and in  Calabria  we have our  hospitality office. Our core team consists of Lex (my husband) -he is dutch but my father says that he is too Italian to be Dutch-, Sergio an Italian with a Dutch mother, Milena a girl from Czech Republic who studied Italian language and is living in the Netherlands, Hidde a Dutchman who fell in love on early age with Italy, and Corrado (manager of the hospitality office in Calabria) and myself Tina.

We all, born in the south of Italy or being adopted as children of the south, want to invite you experiencing our Southern Italy. Join a local farmer in his farmhouse, be surpised by the beautifull nature, enjoy the deep blue seas, visit the small town where it seems that time stood still or let yourself be swept away by the "Dolce far Niente" (the sweetness of doing nothing).

We wish you a lot of fun visiting our website and we hope to welcome you as our guests."
