Your journey starts in either Bari or Bríndisi, depending on your flight. You will pick up the car at the airport and start your tour through this part of the ‘Mezzogiorno’. 15 day individual roundtripDay 1 - 5Head north from Bari or Bríndisi towards the Gargano. Here you will find you residence for the first four nights, Agriturismo Torre dei Preti. The azienda is close to the sea and to the charming town of Péschici. The Gargano promontory has a remarkably diverse landscape with beaches and lagoons, a mountainous green heartland and charming seaside towns. Some possible daytrips to make when you are here: • The seaside towns Péschici and Vieste • The ancient forest ‘Foresta Umbra’ • The Trémiti islands • Monte Sant’Angelo and the pilgrim route • San Giovanni Rotondo: the burial of Padre Pio Day 5 - 8 On day five you head south to your next accommodation: B&B Corte Altavilla in the medieval village of Conversano. Your stay in this charming little hotel will certainly be very pleasant. In the evening you step out the door of your hotel and find yourself in the centre of the village in no time. Of course there are plenty of attractions to visit: • The ancient city of Bari • The caves of Castellana Grotte • The seaside town Monópoli • Matera; ‘Città dei Sassi’ Day 8 - 12 Today you will travel further south towards the Salentine peninsula in the tip of the heel of the boot. The coming four nights you will stay at B&B Donn’anna in the village of Ortelle. It is a good starting point for excursions further into the Salentine peninsula. A few recommendations: • The architecture in Baroque Lecce • The seaside towns Castro and Otranto • The characteristic town Gallipoli • Santa Maria di Leuca, the southernmost point of Italy • Zinzulusa; the blue cave Day 12 - 15 The last part of your journey will bring you to Masseria Casina Vitale in Ostuni. You will spend the last three nights in one of the most stunning small towns of southern Italy, surrounded by buildings of white chalk, clear blue skies and many cultural ‘hotspots’. It is a perfect starting point to enjoy some of the cultural wonders of Apulia. Not to miss are: • Locorotondo and Alberobello and the Trulli valley • Ostuni, the ‘White City’ • The beautiful town Martina Franca • The medieval monuments of Bríndisi Unfortunately this is already the end of your holidays in Apulia. From Ostuni you drive back to Bari or Bríndisi where you will return the car and fly back home.
