From Naples to Apulia - Fly Drive Holidays in Southern Italy

This roundtrip will take you to three different regions in the central part of Southern Italy: Campania, Basilicata and Apulia. Your journey begins in Naples and your return flight will be from either Bari or Brindisi. Your car will be ready for you at the airport when you land in Naples so you can immediately take off.

15 day individual roundtrip in agriturismos

Day 1 - 5
Azienda agriturismo Barone Negri will be your home for the first four nights. This azienda is about one hour away from Naples airport and is a very comfortable, peaceful accommodation. The azienda is surrounded by green vegetation and is the perfect starting point for daytrips. A few suggestions:

• The roman cities Pompeii and Herculaneum
• Naples
• The Amalfi coast with the picturesque towns Amalfi, Positano and Ravello
• Mount Vesuvius
• Sorrento and the islands Capri, Ischia and Procida

Day 5 - 8
You then drive on to the green heart of Basilicata, a fairly unknown part of Italy. Mariagiovanna and Pepino will welcome you in their Agriturismo La Foresteria di San Leo from where you can explore the unspoilt region. A few recommendations:

• The national park Dolomiti Lucani
• The castles of Venosa and Melfi
• Attend a free cooking class at the agriturismo
• The forest of Gallipoli Cognato

Day 8 - 11
Your next stop will be Masseria Cardillo where you will spend three nights. It is strategically positioned to explore the eastern part of Basilicata and the central part of Apulia. The masseria is a wonderful place to relax and enjoy a day of rest, but there are plenty of interesting daytrips to be made too:

• The archaeological site of Metapontum
• The town Matera, ‘Citta dei Sassi’
• The caves of Castellana
• The towns Pisticci and Ferrandina
• The ghost town Craco

Day 11 - 15
From Basilicata you head south towards the Salentine peninsula in the south of Apulia. You will stay near Ostuni, a perfect location from which to explore the central southern part of Apulia. Masseria Casina Vitale will be your home for the last four nights. A few interesting daytrips:

• Martina Franca and Ostuni, the ‘White City’
• The Baroque city Lecce
• Gallipoli
• The ceramic centre Grottaglie
• The Trulli-valley

After two weeks in Southern Italy you will take a flight home from either Bari or Brindisi. Below you will find an overview of the different accommodations.
