The Heart of Italy - Fly Drive Holidays in Southern ItalyThis roundtrip will guide you through three beautiful regions in the northern part of Southern Italy: Lazio, Abruzzo and Molise. The journey begins in Rome, after a short flight from home. The car will be ready for you at the airport, which will allow you to immediately start you holidays in the heart of Italy. 15 day individual roundtrip in B&B and agriturismosDay 1-5 Northern LazioOn day one you will drive in about one and a half hour to your first accommodation north of Rome. Agriturismo Le Vigne is situated at the Lake of Bolsena, close to the village of Bolsena. You will stay here for four nights. Le Vigne is strategically positioned to discover the surrounding area. A few possible daytrips: • Take the train to Rome; ‘the eternal city’ • Enjoy the lake and it’s possibilities • The wine town Montefiascone • The beautiful town Orvieto • The sixteenth-century (monster) statue park of Bomarzo Day 5-9 Abruzzo After your stay in Lazio you travel in the direction of Abruzzo, a region famous for its exciting nature and excellent wines. The next four nights you will stay in Agriturismo Le Magnolie, a renovated nineteenth-century farmhouse. This is the perfect place to relax and unwind from the stress of daily life, and yet you are near many interesting places to visit. A few suggestions: • The national park Gran Sasso • The town L’Aquila • The deserted village Santo Stefano di Sessanio • The Majella National Park • The picturesque towns Atri and Penne Day 9-12 Molise The next part of your stay will be in the unknown Molise. Masseria Santa Lucia will be your home for the next three nights, where you will be surrounded by beautiful, unspoilt nature. You will be pleasantly surprised by the authentic Molise and the many natural and cultural treasures in the region. Don’t miss: • The church bell town Agnone • The archaeological remains of Pietrabbondante and Sepino • The Mountains of Alto Molise • The seaside town Termoli Day 12-15 Southern Lazio Your residence for the last three nights is B&B La Voce del Vento, about one and a half hours southeast of Rome. This is the Ciociaria region, known for its beautiful countryside, great food and the many cultural highlights. A few tips: • Rome, with its many monuments and museums • The beach towns Gaeta and Sperlonga • Montecassino’s convent/monastery • The site of Pastena • The ancient town Capua and the palace of Caserta After two weeks of ‘la dolce vita’ this journey has come to an end. From Pastena you drive back to Rome, from where you take the plane back home. Tips: • This roundtrip can be easily combined with a few days in Rome at the beginning or at the end of your journey. • It is also possible to book this roundtrip without flight, if you choose to travel to Italy by car.
