You will fly to Naples. You car will be waiting for you at the airport so you can immediately start your journey through the ‘Mezzogiorno’. 15 day individual roundtripDay 1 - 5Agriturismo La Vecchia Quercia, an hour south of Naples, is your destination for the first four nights. The peace and quiet at this comfortable accommodation will soon make you forget the stress of daily life. The Agriturismo is a perfect starting point from which to make several daytrips. Some tips: • Naples, the city you must see before you die • The Amalfi coast, with Ravello, Amalfi and Positano • Pompeii, Herculaneum and Mount Vesuvius • A visit to Capri, Ischia or Procida • Sorrento and the Peninsula of Sorrento Day 5 - 8 After four days in Campania, you continue your journey to Calabria. Azienda Le Farnie is situated on a hill near Altomonte. This charming Agriturismo that produces its own olive oil, will be your home for the next three nights. Carla and Carlo will be happy to help you with the planning of your daytrips and excursions in the region. A few recommendations: • Il Pollino national park • The ancient towns Morano Calabro and Altomonte • Rafting on the Lao river • The Albanian villages • The archaeological excavations and the beach of Sibari Day 8 - 11 Today you will head towards central Calabria to find your third accommodation; Agriturismo Le Carolee at the plateau of Piana di Lamezia. You will spend three nights here at this azienda that is hidden between olive groves. The view over the surrounding land is beautiful and it is an excellent starting point to explore the region: • La Sila national park • Eat Tartufo ice cream and visit the churches and castle of Pizzo • The site of Squillace • The charming town Tropea and the pretty beaches of Capo Vaticano • Go for a walk on the estate and take a refreshing dip in the pool Day 11 - 15 After eleven days on the Southern Italian mainland it is time to move on to Sicily. We recommend stopping for lunch in the famous fisherman’s village Scilla. You then drive on to the port of Villa San Giovanni where you can buy a ticket for the ferry (about twenty five Euros). You drive your car on the ferry and after half an hour you arrive in Messina. In Sicily you will drive to the Etna Hotel on the slope of Mount Etna. This charming accommodation will be your home for the last four nights. The hotel is perfectly positioned to explore Sicily’s east coast. The choice is yours, but here are a few recommendations: • Mount Etna, Europe’s most active volcano • The seaside towns Taormina, Giarre, Riposto and Acireale • The Monti Peloritani and the Gola di Alcantara (canyon) • The Baroque city Syracuse with its Greek theatre • A trip by bike or scooter to the beach On your last day you will drive to the airport of Catania to return the car and check in for your flight home.
